Transportation to/from Havana Jose Marti Airport

As every modern airport Havana Jose Marti International Airport has several means of transportation to/from the airport. The journey to the center of Havana gets about 30 minutes, approximately 1 hour to Playas del Este resort and about 2 hours lasts the journey to the world famous Cuban resort Varadero.

Taxi

Taxi is the fastest way to get somewhere. Transportation to Havana will take you approximately 20-30 minutes. Taxi parking areas are located in front of each passenger Terminal. Do not forget to settle the price before the ride. Usually it is about 20-25 USD one way (20-25 CUC, convertible pesos). Although all taxis have meters taxi drivers often do not switch them on.

Car Rental

Car rental services also exist in Havana Jose Marti international airport. They are situated in arrival areas of each terminal. These are the car rental companies which operate in the airport for a long time:

-Terminal 3 (International): Cubacar, Rex, Havanautos and Via Transgaviota.
-Terminal 2 (US Charters): Via Transgaviota, Havanautos, Cubacar and Rex.
-Terminal 5 (Caribbean): Via Transgaviota.

It is supposed that world known car rental services will appear in the airport in the nearest future. When high season comes to Cuba the demand for car rental increases greatly. That is why advance booking is highly recommended. Prices for car rental depend on a car type, time of a year and other factors. In average they swing from 50 CUC up to 125 CUC per day. Add to this sum an obligatory insurance which enlarges the payment by 15 CUC per day.

Public Buses

There is no bus transportation to International Terminal 3. Public buses are convenient only for domestic passengers as they serve only Terminal 1. Public buses (Viazul or others) have a bus station in Vedado district of Havana. It is about 15 km from the airport. A special kiosk in the Arrivals Hall of the airport sends tickets for Viazul buses. Then you have to take a taxi in order to get to the bus station. The payment in buses is possible only in Cuban National Pesos, no CUC are available. This is one more inconvenience for foreign passengers. But shuttle bus between terminals of HAV Airport is of great use for visitors.

Chartered Shuttle Bus

A great number of charter flights from South and North America come to Cuba daily. As a rule all travelers of such charters have a vacation package which includes a transfer voucher from the airport to a hotel and back. In this case you should find a representative of your Tour Operator in the Arriving Hall and he will show you your shuttle bus to the hotel.

Parking in the Havana Jose Marti Airport

Short and long-term parking ($) is also available in HAV Airport. Terminal 3 has 750 parking places and Terminal 1 & 2 has 500 parking spaces each. All of them are located within 150 meters from respective terminals. So you can leave your car and have a trip within Cuba or abroad and leave the airport after the arrival by your own car.
